I keep looking at your untitled painting, the one that won the Maine Honourable Mention. It is very haunting especially the way the lines seem to move across the surface.
Well, it is interesting, Fiona. I get very caught up in the marking and surface color that follows. It is the personal nature of drawing, I think. Much of my current work is created in the same way, although I do have a large 'taped' painting going -- something which I have never attempted before. I am concerned, though, that the taping may prevent a certain intimacy with surface. We'll see.
