Is it glitter I see? I remember a show I saw of Frank Stella, many of the works had glitter on them, and in his statement, he said, "If I knew then what I know now, I would have used a lot more glitter!"

Annell -- Yes -- I do strive to capture reflection, refraction of light within the surface. But, as much as I revere Stella, I do not use glitter! I use employ viscous mixtures of oil paint, sometimes embedded with graphite, charcoal, or other mineral but light effects are the result of layering.

There is so much constantly in site on the ocean... I recall my late mother-in-law referring to light bouncing over the water as glitter...
